What should buyers place the most emphasis on when they go to purchase a home? In today’s video, I’ll answer that very question.
When you’re in the market to buy a home, it’s important to stick to certain criteria while making your decisions. Specifically, there are four factors to look for:
1. Resale value. A home is likely to be the biggest financial investment you make over the course of your life. In light of that, the home should have the potential for long-term appreciation and should be situated in a neighborhood you can see yourself living in.
2. Good bones. Think of the home’s “bones” as the items that contribute to its structural integrity, such as the foundation or the windows. Make sure there are no cracks or leaks, respectively.
3. Costly repairs. Big-budget repairs won’t always just give you trouble today—they may end up costing you down the road as well. Although the perfect home doesn’t actually exist, be meticulous when looking at the inspection reports. You want to be safe in the knowledge that the bones are structurally sound.
4. Floor plan. Many buyers see a home and are blown away by its price and the neighborhood that surrounds it. What some fail to recognize, though, is that there could be a glaring floor plan issue. Make sure the home’s floor plan is right for you and your family.
Follow these criteria and you’re sure to find a home you and your family will be happy in for years to come.
