Different people thrive on different teams, and that’s why choosing a team culture that’s right for you is necessary.
How do you know if the culture on a real estate team is right for you? I believe it’s an individual’s decision, and that you must ask yourself tough questions about what your goals are.
Once you know what your dreams are for your real estate career, you need to find a team that best matches them—and culture is critical.
Every company has a culture, though some pay little attention to it while others are very purposeful and strategic in managing it.
Look for things like mission statements, company values, and core competencies. These can reveal a lot about what matters most to an organization and are therefore critical in helping you find out where you want to go.
Also, look at the makeup of the team; do they have someone who could be a mentor to you? Are there people who could simply be your friends? Is the team comprised of a diverse group of Realtors, or are all of them the same?
Don’t undervalue culture when making your decision. Again, it doesn’t matter what you choose, so long as you choose it. If you find a team where you fit in and want to emulate others around you, there’s no limit to what can be accomplished in real estate. When you’re happier, you’ll get better results.
